If Loving You Is Wrong: The Tape (2x08)

Does Brad have a little bit of humanity left in him? That's the big question I took away from the first scene that he shared with his kids. He's been so consumed in getting revenge for being cheated on that he just assumed Randal and her haven't stopped sleeping together. Say what you want about Alex, but at least she's been remorseful. We tend to call Alex the cheater, but Randal is 7 times worse than her. He has no remorse and he continuously tries to get with Alex, even though his own marriage is deteriorating. Alex's marriage is deteriorating, but she hasn't done anything all season but stay in a bed and cry about it and she would be trying to fix it if she wasn't so busy with the baby and trying to keep Eddie from killing them both. Brad's face when the kids tell him that Alex basically runs away from him whenever she sees him is a little heartbreaking. He's begun to piece together how tough he's been on her, but at the same time, I'm sure this was just how Aiden Turner (the actor who plays Brad) was playing it, because Brad will forever be a wild card in this show. Eddie storms in tells Brad that he needs to tell his redneck uncle about the situation so he can unleash hell on Alex, the baby, and Randall. We are once again confirmed that Eddie has absolutely nothing adjacent to a chill.

There are so many beautiful things to say about this scene between Miss Louise and Marcie. For one, she made her food. That's the blackest and kindest thing I've seen on this show. We have to attribute some of the beauty of these scene to the two actresses. Hemmens' physical acting is wonderful in this scene. The way you can almost hear her heart crack open when Louise tells her she's going back to Colorado. The way her hug feels like the most genuine thing that has ever graced or screens on a Tyler Perry OWN drama. The two have a beautiful conversation about Marcie's feelings. We've seen her hate, but we haven't seen the part of her that was just able to grieve the good part of her marriage. I was ready to write this off as Marcie going back to her old boring ways, but it's all part of her character development and she's beginning to go through the stages of grief. She may have added a few, because I don't think fucking someone like a jackrabbit in a shade is part of the stages of grief, but she's just grieving right now. She's hurt. Miss Louise gives her advice to stop drinking and I think she'll take the advice. Marcie tells her she's stopped caring, but Louise hits it on the nose. She can argue that she's stopped loving him but she can't argue that she's stopped caring. She wants to get even with him. She wants him to feel the pain and distraught that she felt. If she didn't care about him, she would have been the one to leave the house but she wasn't. She continued to taunt him and it became a back and forth. This scene was maybe the most beautiful thing that has every come to the show.

Ben's crack head ass wasn't able to get Pete to come to get beers with him. He tells Eddie that Pete wasn't able to see the tape yet and starts begging for more drugs because of the pain from his hand. His girlfriend is apparently a druggie, too, because he gives her one of the pills. If he's just trying to give it to her too, shouldn't he have at least waited until Eddie took off? Eddie tells him to get away from the truck and basically threatens to kill Pete. Which he would probably do, because he's Eddie. My favorite part was Eddie telling Cindy to  shut up, Cindy telling Ben to stick up for, but Ben tells that bitch to shut up too. That was so funny. Claudia comes into the precinct the next day and sees Michael B Jordan (Pete) by the machine that he can view the video of Eddie shooting Ben. They get into an unnecessary conversation that ends with her going to get some coffee he made. He gets to watching the video and realizes  it was Eddie that shot Ben. Claudia's nosy ass pops back in and Michael runs away when Ben comes in. Ben's hoe ass is ready to try and get him a piece of that chocolate until she says she saw the tape of the guy shooting him that Pete was just watching. Ben runs out of there and Claudia goes back to drinking her damn coffee. He calls Eddie and tells him Pete and Claudia saw the tape. Claudia should have drank her coffee and gone back to answering 911 calls because she's fucked now. Eddie tells him he's coming back to the station. Side note, his wound still looks like Tyler Perry dotted his chest with a paint brush with paint from the dollar barn

Ben goes into the locker room, finds Pete and wonders why he didn't come out to have drinks with him and Cindy. Eddie comes in and throws Ben out so he can have a talk with Pete. Pete is literally the only character who is up to something suspicious but is lying about it. You have Brad and Marcie fucking for the neighborhood to hear, Travis being an honest fuck boy and Randal admitting to all of his 7 deadly sins (wondering why people hate him). Pete is the only one (and Eddie) lying about the tape to everyone in the precinct and he's a terrible liar so no one believes him. Ben's dumbass is the only one who would believe him, but he overhears him, soooo, nah. Eddie basically tells him that he's just a citizen in Eddie's world and that he will literally burn him alive, spit on him, shoot his burning body, bury him and then dig him up just to kill him some more times. When he starts physically assaulting him, Lushion tears them apart. The hurt in Pete's eyes when he hears he isn't going to be partners with him anymore isn't from him not being partners with Lushion anymore, it's a way to place his fear with Eddie. He's realized what he's gotten himself into. He thinks he's too tough for this, but he's not. He's scared and needs help, Lushion has been somewhat of a father figure to him and when he pleads with him to stay his partner, it's painful to watch. But Pete's so underdeveloped, I barely care. And he's such a bad liar.

Natalie is trying to get a loan from the bank so she can put a down payment on a house with Lushion. Kelly is her consultant and basically says she's all but guaranteed a loan because of Lushion's wonderful credit...and amazing savings. Natalie has no idea how much money he had in the bank. She also filled out all of this information for him, so it's kind of illegal. Kelly shuts her mouth when it comes to the rest of his finances and Natalie is hurt that he would lie to her about all of this. It's an interesting development because Lushion has come across as nothing but honest and the perfect guy so far. But to know that he's been lying to her and allowing her and his kid (along with the rest of her liter) hurts her.

The doctor is yapping to Alex about stress and ironically, Brad comes in right after and spikes her blood pressure into outer space.

Tyler Perry had Ramsey mowing the lawn looking like he was a melted piece of dark chocolate. Kelly, once again, had about 4 orgasms just looking at him when she pulled up next door to him. She invites him into her house. He says he's all sweaty and she is like "Mmm, more for me!" as they go into her house. When they get inside, he asks about Marcie again. Kelly clearly wants him to stay because she likes him so much so she hilariously pretends that she isn't coming to the phone when Marcie answers and basically shouts out the lyrics to Adele's Hello. Marcie, even though she's going through a lot, offers to come down and help him out with the selling of the house in 20 minutes. When Kelly hears twenty minutes, all she hears is "we only got 20 minutes to fuck?"

Faun is still desperately trying to get inside of Joey's pants, complaining that he hasn't called her. Joey, being the fuckboy he is, asks if she's trying to get him killed. This entire scene is ridiculous. I don't need to talk about it. Julius and Qwan pull up outside the Burger Joint and Qwan tells her to watch Faun get out the door. Basically, Faun takes the money (alone) to different locations everyday and Qwan needs money, so he plans on robbing her (and essentially the store) so Julius won't kill his ass. Basically, Faun's fucked and this time not by Joey.

Marcie dresses up and comes down the stairs to see Louise before she goes to work (Ramsey). Miss Louise tells her that Randall is out there watching the shed. She tells Marcie that ever since he was a child, whenever something went wrong he would go back to the location, study it and try and pinpoint where things went wrong. All these signs, according to Louise, are showing that he's finally realized what he did was wrong because of the "gut punch" with Brad. She tells her that he's going to become a different man. And while she's right, she's not right about the type of Man we will become. Randal is staring at the shed, his vein popping and crazy eyes present, and having dark room filter flashbacks to everything that's happened. He sees him and Alex having sex, Brad and Marcie having sex. It looks like this is all going to lead to Randal burning the shed down. His eye starts twitching and there's another shot of the shed that ends up looking like it was edited by Window's Movie Maker and he gets up. Louise reveals she's leaving today and breaks the hearts of the 2 million people watching the episode. Marcie and her vow to keep in touch and hug it out. This is the calm before the storm because  Randal snatched Marcie's hair so hard, I had to check MY scalp for a bald spot. He snatched her soul out of her body, threw her down to the ground and started to choke the absolute DOG SHIT out of her.

EPISODE GRADE: A-
And with that, I am finally all caught up and will be posting weekly reviews of the episodes! I'll try and get them up Tuesday or Wednesday nights!

Brad is a savage:
"Mom certainly doesn't talk to Mr. Randal." "Doesn't she?" Shade, heffa. SHADE.
This man comes into her hospital room with DEAD roses.
"Just breath Alex!" "Or not..."
"Yeah, stop it, Alex."
"You trying to kill this woman?" "Well..."
"Actually she should be ashamed." "I am." "Well, that's progress."
"I can't wait for you to get home with this bundle of joy."
*sets the dead roses on her bed* "Hurry home. Hurry home."

Eddie is the best:
"Yeah, yeah. Good seeing ya, get your little asses out of here."
"They have eyes, they're gonna know."
"Look I want you to..." "...Kill the bitch?"
"Tell me you didn't want to throw her ass of the roof. Kill the bitch."
"Go tell my uncle. If you don't, I will."
"You take your ass up there, or I'm gonna do something that get's us ALL in trouble." Shit.
"You remember my girlfriend Cindy?" "Yeah, I don't give a damn."
"Shut up, bitch. Nobody is talking to you, you shouldn't even be here."
Eddie is doing cocaine off of his belly before Ben calls.
He has a black girl in his bed, smacks her in the weave telling her to get up and not do all that "Groggy groggy."
*throws hands on Pete* Get yo hands off me!
"You got a heart, but I'm the guy that will rip that damn thing out of you."
Eddie's crazy eyes would scare Lucifer.
"You damn right I shot Ben's fingers off. I shot one in the leg, four or five in the chest, seven or eight in the ass and one or two in the foot, I enjoy it."

Miss Louise, Fix My Life:
"Sometimes some people don't get over it."
"Anybody with as much passion about hurting somebody must love them. Or hate them."
"All you need to do is pay close attention to your feelings and you'll discover you can't feel both at the same time, love and hate. It's like light and darkness. They can't share the same space." You better give us a sermon, Miss Louise!
"When we're upset, we bafelate from one to other. And we feel them separately, but not at the same time."
"When you are hurting and in pain, you can't trust yourself. You certainly can't trust yourself if you're impaired."
"Yes, I am right, I can give good advice. Not bad for an old bitch."
"And I apologize for calling you a loose whore." "You didn't call me that." "I was thinking it."
"Anyone who wants to hurt the other so bad, means you haven't stopped caring."

Kween Kelly:
"That's from my credit? "No, honey, no honey,it's mostly Lushion."

Boy, you betta bleach:
"I'll call you later." Boy, you better focus on them counters and less on that phone.
Him covering and alluding to his boner was cringe-worthy. Better focus on them counters and less at being horny.
