SONG REVIEW: Haley Reinhart "Better"

After four years, Haley Reinhart is back and by the looks of it she's here to slay.

Disclaimer: I've been waiting four years for new music from Haley Reinhart so don't be surprised if this review is me kissing her perfect ass, okay?

"Better" encompasses everything I love about Haley. There is killer vocals, growling, a great hook (led by an awesome guitar) and most importantly a groove with an unapologetic bass. It's also lyrically beautiful. The song is about moving on (she quite literally repeats "I'm moving on") from a relationship where she was hurt and she gives us confirmation that sometimes the best thing to do is "throw [his] ring into the ocean". You could also argue this is Haley's anthem for her career. Leaving behind her old label (who didn't promote her enough, if you ask me) and regaining more creative control of herself. Let's be honest, Postmodern Jukebox has been treating her better and given her more exposure in a couple of months than Interscope was able to in a few years. Point is, after listening to "Better" you'll be feeling a lot better. It's a ridiculously catchy tune than effortlessly reintroduces us to who Reinhart is at an artist.

SONG GRADE: A
