Disclaimer: This is a review of the first two singles off of Louisa Johnson's upcoming debut album. Everything down below are my personal opinions. I'm in no way affiliated with any corporation, especially Louisa Johnson, or Syco records.
Louisa Johnson is a four leaf clover in the pop music industry. She can sing her tail off almost effortlessly. During her tenure on X Factor UK, sometimes I questioned if what came out of her was even human (Let it Go still gives me goosebumps). Say what you want about the show but it's spawned some of the most successful acts in the industry to the date (ex. One Direction, James Arthur or Fifth Harmony). It hasn't been an easy road for her commercially so far, but with the right music and backing Louisa Johnson could have all of that success. Unfortunately I was a bit tied up when these songs were first released but better late than never!
SO GOOD

Where "Forever Young," her debut winner's single, failed to deliver was introducing us to the type of artist Louisa wants to be. Singing competition shows are all in good fun, but so many of them fail to introduce us to the type of artist the winner would like to be so they're almost unrecognizable when they finally release their own music. This song introduced the type of edgy pop singer Louisa wants to be, and hopefully will be come. It's a strong proper first release post-X Factor and still a bop to this day.
SONG GRADE: A-

This song is pure fun. From the baseline that opens up the song and can be heard throughout to it's major dance-pop-club crossover appeal. It's a bundle of fun from the beginning to the end. With this following up "So Good," it truly feels like Johnson knows what works for her voice now. In pop these days it's not common to hear someone with such a powerful and voice as Johnson's but it's once again properly utilized on this track, the climax of the song occurring after the bridge as she expertly belts out the chorus. If this is any indication of what's to come from her debut album, I can't wait.
SONG GRADE: B+
