The Voice US: Top 11 Live Show (PHARRELL)

EVAN MCKEEL
Hey, Evan c: Evan has such a passion for doing this, it's very endearing. My heart warmed a little as his mom told the story of when she first found out about his musical passion, and then Evan spoke about how amazing it was to have the two most supportive people when it comes to his musical career. He's just such a cool and genuine guy. His song choice excited me because it's one of my favorite songs. The visuals were outstanding. The wide shot of him as he begun the song acapella was absolutely beautiful to look at and listen to. The "sun" figure that had the dancing in the silhouette was breathtakingly gorgeous. It was a little dramatic but it worked for the feel that Evan was going for. This is were he came of age as a contestant to me. I've just been content with him so far but I became a fan of his after this performance. He sounded great and the performance was great. The last note was glorious! (7.5/10)

I love Freedom by Pharrell. It's another feel good song by him and he is king of performing the hell out of a simple song. I absolutely loved the gloves in the audience and all the dancers. He's an awesome live singer, his "Freedom!"'s came off as more of a statement and less as him screaming. This was a very awesome and feel good performance.

MADI DAVIS
Madi and her mom are the best. The absolute best. Madi's face when Pharrell demonstrated that complicated run was absolutely hilarious. She was looking at him like, who? This song was absolutely in her freaking wheelhouse, I am so happy she is doing it. From rehearsals when she was sitting at the keyboard she immediately was so in the zone and you could tell she was so much more comfortable with this type of performance. The beginning was absolutely haunting. The vocals, the chord she played on the keyboard, even the streamers were kind of haunting. The gentle breeze in her hair was beautiful and when she hit the run they were talking about I got a little giddy. Madi is most definitely a more intimate and emotional performer than she is with the whole reggae thing. All of her vocal riffs were hit effortlessly and when some of them came out of nowhere I couldn't help but get chills. I had no idea she had such a strong voice! When she begun belting, the goosebumps kept coming and I was so taken over by the song. Madi really was able to convey the emotion through this performance. It came off a bit theatrical at times, but it was absolutely what the performance called for. This was a glorious comeback performance from her and to see her so emotionally drained at the end when Pharrell came up to hug her was just a testament to what she brought to the table this week. (8.5/10)
