I'm not exactly how Grace won, not one, but both nights. She's pretty good but far from the best of the bunch. Also, I'm not feeling this new format at all. Bring back the sing-offs, the teary eyes and the producers throwing potatoes at all of the contestants. The X Factor is great at drama for no good reason but all of this just seems a little...boring.
THE CUTKELVINS
"What About Us"
Shereen is the reason why I get up in the morning. They sounded amazing, looked fantastic and turned X Factor into a dance club for 3 minutes (more like 2 minutes, the last minute was more like actual military bootcamp for some reason). A-
KEVIN DAVY WHITE
"Stay"
He took something that could have been extremely boring and turned it into a haunting, riveting piece. His voice is the exact opposite of butter in the best possible way. Where did that note come from? That's what you call soul! A-
TALIA DEAN
"What Makes You Beautiful"
The arrangement was interesting. Parts of it really work and parts sounded really weird. Her voice was hit or miss for the most part. It was kind of a pleasant hot mess, with no idea what it wanted to be. C
JACK & JOEL
"New Rules"
The perfect song for them. It amazes me how goofy, yet confident they managed to be without being annoying. B+
MATT LINNEN
"Scars to Your Beautiful"
That tone, man! It was very interesting to both listen to and watch. The rasp in his voice is fantastic and founds its way perfectly in the song. Like I said before, that left hand needs it's own reality show. B
SEAN & CONOR
"Strong"
This was a lot less boring than what they've displayed before but one of them was just under the note the entire performance. C+
TRACYLEANNE JEFFORD
"Written in the Water"
AHH!!!!!!!! This was fantastic! One of the only things dragging her down was how difficult it seemed to be to stay on pitch. That was very, very stressful because she has the most unique tone in the competition by a mile. Her voice is beautiful and she drips with confidence every time she steps out to perform. B+
RAK-SU
"Mamacita"
Another week, another original song. This was really fun, sounded good and sounded like it could be a hit by today's standards. What does the one in the hat do? B+
