The Voice US: Top 11 Live Show (ADAM)

SHELBY BROWN
Well, The Voice did the absolute opposite of what I requested. She sang an upbeat song and was put first in the night, arguably the death slot. Shelby is so fierce, when she walked into rehearsal with her dad and told Adam "I'm fine," she gave him a fierce look and I just thought you better work girl! I think it's wonderful how she's growing and is getting more comfortable with herself on stage. She needs to be more confident because she is such a strong singer and such a strong contender, but if she doesn't put her everything into a song, it will fall flat. This was not the case tonight because the amount of vocal power she inserted in the beginning of the song while her voice was soft was absolutely extravagant. The only criticism is she needs to work on her breath control because she sounded so out of breath by the end. Another thing I find incredibly great about her is the fact that she has such a strong voice and knows how to use it. There are so many people who have strong voices but no vocal control so it is basically just a juxtaposition to how talented they could be. Shelby doesn't have this problem, the performance was excellent. (8/10)

AMY VACHEEL
Why does her dad look smack like Walter White or Whitey from One Tree Hill? Anyways, onto Amy. I am so glad that Amy and Adam (I put them in that order just for the Amy Adams reference) decided to redo another song this week. Amy is the type of artist who soars when she puts her own (or Adam's own...?) touch on a song. I was excited when the guitar was dropped because it would allow for her to be a little more free with the song because she did seem a little stiff last week, in my opinion. She once again looked absolutely amazing, she is such a class act when it comes to her aura on stage and her wardrobe. She took the melody of the song and turned it into something simple, but sometimes less it more. Less was definitely more. As she started air playing her ukulele, the song begun to look like something she would put on her album. She made the song her own and it worked out amazingly. The vocals could have used a bit more, but she did as much as she could with her limited (albeit, gorgeous, but limited) range. (7.5/10)

JORDAN SMITH
I was worried when we didn't see him at 8, 8:30 or 9 but finally Jordan showed up at 9:31 and thankfully they didn't put him at the end again (third from the last, he's slowly moving his way up). I get why they put him at the end of the night usually. He's probably the most popular contestant and why would people stick around if the best of the night goes at the beginning? But he's not going anywhere (knocks on wood) so just put him wherever and try and pimp out some of the other contestant, Voice! Jordan is the best. His imaginary band about The Lizards was so cute, haha! I was excited to hear Jordan was doing "Who You Are" by Jessie J. It has the perfect message that I think Jordan is perfect for. Yo, you don't have to look like you just stepped out of an Essence magazine cover shoot to absolutely fuck the game up and be flawless. Jordan is a beautiful person on the inside and out and he's an amazing role model to kids who don't look like they were plucked out of Beverly Hills, 90210 (even though he is pitch perfect, duh). I was mostly excited because it was something different that what he's been doing. These power ballads by divas. It had that edge to it that would be able to show a different side to him. I thought the more acoustic vibe to the song complimented his voice a little better than it would have it was more of a big house production but I would have liked to see him work his way through and show what a powerful voice he has over the music. It was still a very intimate performance and was absolutely beautiful. His vocals gave me chills all over my body, man this guy can sing his but off! (8.5/10)
